Excellent season bodes
well for 2nd annual
Clermont Commercial Female Show and Sale

With an excellent start to the season, confidence will be high leading up to the second annual Clermont Commercial Brahman Female Show and Sale on Friday, April 11, at the Clermont saleyards.

In the wake of last year’s successful inaugural event, it’s anticipated that a similar number of vendors will again commit to selling a quality yarding of females at this exciting ABBA sponsored show and sale.

Hoch and Wilkinson director, Jake Passfield, Clermont, said he expected the quality of females would be exceptional at this year’s show and sale.

“We’ve had a real good start to the season across Central and Northern parts of Australia, so the quality of cattle I anticipate will come forward would be of a very high quality,” Mr Passfield said.

“It’s a bit early, but those that supported the sale last year have indicated that it’s a great idea and a great advocate for the Brahman breed, especially the Brahman female in our country,” he said.

“We will have a better idea of numbers about a fortnight out from the sale.”

Mr Passfield said ABBA came to them last year to conduct the sale on their behalf.

“They used to hold the sale at Gracemere, but they wanted to hold it further into the western country, and it worked very well,” he said.

“People who supported the sale last year got paid over the market price at the time for their cattle,” he said.

Last year’s sale saw a total of 634 head yarded with the sale split into five classes: Cows and Calves, PTIC Cows under ten years, PTIC Heifers under three years, Yearling Heifers over 300kg and Weaner Heifers under 300kg.

This format will be repeated this year, with prize money set at $500 per class, $1000 for Champion, and $500 for Reserve Champion.
