Chudley Brahman Stud, Cooroy, was established in 1982 by Rob Walker, who set up the objective of producing red Brahman cattle concentrating on type and fleshing, with temperament being of paramount importance.
Progress was slow until the availability of the solid genetic base from selections at the Cherokee, Jay-El, Boomaroo and Cherry Creek Dispersal Sales.

Red Indu bull Bando TX/L Raffles 1580 (ET) and the imported bull Happy Valley 811/8 (Imp) were mated with the Jay-El and Cherokee females. The resulting progeny were mated to the well known sires Cherokee Binnamayah and Coodardie Rambler (of pure Cherokee breeding). An A.I. programme that included HK sires allowed Chudley to blend and produce its own recognised line of quiet well-fleshed Brahman cattle.
A current AI programme includes American bulls SRS Bacaroi 730 and Steamboat 774. A number if single sires have gone on to do the job, these include Chudley Red Chip, purchased privately by Vic Deguara of
Savannah Brahmans,Chuldey Red Pepper bought by by Neil and Terii Ferris of Red Oak Brahman Stud, Bororen, Chudley Red Billy, bought by Brett Kinnon ('Alinya' Clermont) and Chudley Mighty Mouse bought by the Loader family of Thangool. Volume buyers include Robert and Jacqueline Curley “Gipsy Plains” Cloncurry, and Consolidated Pastoral Co., N.T. & W.A.

Over the years hand picked bulls from Banyak Suka, Cheerokee, Lyndhurst, Lancefield, Balmoral, Walla, Garglen, Olympus and others have been used to blend the current Chudley herd.
Chudley continues to have great success in the show ring with progeny of Chudley Rob Roy, Chudley Warhawk, Chudley Open Order and Chudley Red Pepper. Our home bred sires have thrown broad ribbon winning quality red pigment stud calves with exceptional temperament and a high percentage of polls. Rigorous selection has been carried out over the years and only the best quality and quietest females have been retained for forward breeding.
Bulls can be viewed by arrangement at the Bull Depot , Happy Jack Road, Ridgewood via Cooroy.
